Born on January 20, 1989, James Tyler Young was the younger of two brothers. It was in this small rural south Alabama town called East Brewton that he grew up with loving parents and solid values. His love for music grew with him while intently listening to a mixture of country, gospel, and rock. The music helped form a dream and passion that would forever impact his life.
With country roots that run deep into that southern heritage, he began playing the fiddle, drums, piano, and guitar at and early age and throughout his high school years. After high school, his audition at a nearby community college landed him a two-year scholarship and the lead guitarist position in the ensemble. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Performing Arts and was also winner of the Jerry Padgett award, which is considered the highest honor, given by the ensemble.
He went on to sing in a gospel group named Southland with a booked schedule every weekend. During this time he enrolled in the music industry program at Troy University.
Because of the grueling travel schedule of singing and college, Tyler decided to leave Southland and focus on his education.
Now in his third year at troy, he has exploded on the college scene. His awesome vocals and talent for writing a collection of his own songs has made him a hit with young and old alike. He has performed at several events, contests, clubs, private parties, weddings, restaurants, etc. Tyler’s passion for writing music is as strong as his playing and singing.
The dream of entertaining is the driving force that he lives by. Tyler Young is a new force to be reckoned with, as the music industry will soon discover.
